Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden is a beautiful and peaceful resting place, not only for those whose ashes are interred there, but for all who come to visit. The names of those interred are listed on the wall inside the church entrance or narthex.

Come visit, take a seat, and enjoy the surroundings. Whether there to remember a loved one, or taking a break from a busy day, you are welcome. The Garden also hosts outdoor services and other community events.

Members of the congregation tend the flower beds during the summer months. Volunteers are always welcome. If you wish to join them, inquire at the church office.

History

When plans were being made in 1979-80 to build an addition to St. Peter’s Church (parish hall, offices, and Sunday School rooms), there were requests that consideration be given to include a burial site for ashes as part of the landscape design of the Church grounds.

The Garden was financed by many private donations and was designed by Phyllis W. Cole, Landscape Designer and parishioner. Bishop John Coburn officiated at the Dedication Service on June 30th, 1985.
